Welsh Senior Champs - Day 1 highlights

The sun came out in Cardiff and the athletes took advantage of lovely conditions to put in some great performances on day one of the Welsh Senior Championships.

Some highlights from a busy day of action included:

Adele Nicoll winning the women's shot with a throw of 16m89 - a PB and Commonwealth nomination standard. In the men's Shot Daniel Cork took the win with Patrick Swan a close second.

Tommy Ramdhan wins 200m

The men's & women's 200m fields were strengthened by entries from England & Scottish relay athletes, and the performance of the day came from England's Tommy Ramdhan who won the men's final in a rapid 20.48, with Shemar Boldizar in second, and Welsh Olympian, Joe Brier, third - both dipping under 21 seconds.

The women's 1500m title was taken by Beth Kidger in 4.22, with Kate Seary clocking a PB of 4.24 for second, and Guernsey Athletics's Angharad Davies coming third. The men's title went to James Heneghan, with Osian Perrin taking Silver and Ben Miles the Bronze.

Three men cleared 5m in the Pole vault with the title going to Jack Phipps of Birchfield with a clearance of 5m13. Jake Watson pipped Ethan Walsh for silver, both clearing 5m03.

The Women's and Men's Senior Triple jump Golds went to Sarah Abrams with a jump of 12m06 and Jedani Wright of Bristol & West who jumped 13m84 - Welsh Male Champion was Ryan Price who was second to Jedani with 12m41.
