Welsh Schools’ Athletic Association National Track & Field Championships Preview

This Saturday will bring about the 73rd edition of the Welsh Schools Athletic Association National Track & Field Championships at Cardiff International Sports Campus. The event will take place in its entirety for the first time in three years after a long break enforced due to the pandemic.
With entries nearing 500 across all age groups, competition for podium places is sure to be hotly contested with all athletes having the challenge of moving into a new age group since the last edition of the Championships.
Whilst the potential selection for SIAB and the Welsh Athletics International will be in the minds of many, this Championship is also a unique opportunity for schools’ athletes to experience high-level competition for the first time. We expect personal bests to be broken and goals achieved as young athletes move up in performance levels on the National stage.
Cardiff and The Vale of Glamorgan claimed three of the age group titles last time around but will face tough competition from the likes of Dyfed, who will look to improve on their two age category victories in 2019.
Good luck to all athletes taking part!
