Welsh Athletics Coach Education Season Springs into Action

This weekend marked the long-awaited return of sunshine and the perfect start to the 2025/26 coach education season for Welsh Athletics. With spring finally in full bloom, we were thrilled to deliver two Coaching Assistant courses, continuing our commitment to developing the coaching pathway and supporting athletics communities across Wales.
We kicked off in Welshpool with a fantastic Coaching Assistant course delivered at the newly formed Welshpool AC — a club established by Commonwealth Games medallist Adele Nicoll. The course was a great success, and the enthusiasm from attendees highlighted the strong local ambition and community spirit. It’s a clear example of how Welsh Athletics is backing grassroots growth and coach development right across the country and we can’t wait to see Welshpool AC go from strength to strength as a result.
From there, we travelled to Penarth, where another Coaching Assistant course welcomed a vibrant group of aspiring coaches and athletes. The day was filled with energy, learning, and collaboration as participants worked toward gaining their first formal coaching qualification. The course not only offered essential knowledge and practical experience, but also highlighted the real benefits of becoming a Coaching Assistant — with expert tuition delivered by our experienced, fully qualified tutors.
Next up, we’re excited to head to Ammanford on 11th May for a Welsh-medium Coaching Assistant course, followed by Brecon on 7th June, where the course will be delivered in English. Both events promise to continue the momentum as we build a strong, skilled network of coaches across Wales.
Diolch to everyone who joined us this weekend — your passion is the driving force behind our sport. We look forward to seeing more of you on the coaching journey this season!
