U18 WMRA Mountain Running World Cup, Susa, Italy – August 24
Welsh Teams were in action at the 14th Under 18 WMRA Mountain Running World Cup at Susa in Italy on Saturday.
Michael Spill of Menai Track & Field and Joseph Reardon of Aberdare Valley AC both claimed top 10 finishes in fifth and ninth places. This meant that Wales’ men’s team finished second overall to take the team silver medal.
Eden O’Dea of Deeside AAC was the first Welsh women in sixth place leading Wales to fourth in the team race, just outside the medals.
Junior Athletics League Cup & Plate Finals – August 24-25
The sun was out in Swansea for both Junior Athletics League Cup and Plate finals last weekend.
There was a great atmosphere both on the track and in the stands with athletes and spectators out in full force.
It was a well fought match by all the clubs but it was ultimately Neath AC who took home the plate on the Saturday and Swansea Harriers who held on to the cup for another year.
There was a standout performance by Gracie Griffiths who broke the 1000m race walk Welsh Record, setting the new time to 5:18.42.

First Campus Butetown Mile, Cardiff – August 24
Former Commonwealth Games athlete James Thie was the first man across the line in 4.28 with Chris Prothero close behind in 4.32.
In the Women’s race, Danielle Phillips came home first in 5.45 followed by Holly Collett in 5.47.
Llantwit Major 10K, Llantwit Major – August 24
Dan Bodmin of Aberdare Valley AAC was the first man home in 36.39 followed by Callum Priest from Pontypridd Roadents AC in 41.21
In the women’s race, Barry & Vale Harriers’ Rebecca George was first home in 47.07 followed by Tammy Nurse in 49.36
Seven Bridge 10K/Half Marathon – August 25
In the Men’s 10K race, Jamie Parry of Parc Bryn Back Running Club was the first home in 34.51 followed by Pon-Y-Pwl & District Runners’ Ben Miles in 36.08. Katy Roy from Chepstow Harriers was the first woman across the line in 41.01. She was followed by clubmate Niki Morgan in 41.30.
In the Men’s Half Marathon, Swansea Harriers’ Matthew Rees was the first Welshman home in 1:13.42 followed closely by Richard Jackson-Hookins of Les Coupiers Running Club in 1:14.27. In the Women’s race, Georgie Parnell from Chepstow Harriers was the first welsh woman home in 1:33.09. She was followed by Torfaen Runners’ Lou Summers in 1:37.01
Cardiff Pentath 10K / Half Marathon, Cardiff – August 25
In the Men’s race, Neil Reynolds from San Domenico RC was the first to cross the line in 36:08 followed by Les Coupiers RC Runner Richard Baker in 36:34.
In the Women’s race Bridgend Athletics Club runner Gina Hardman was the first women home in 44:48 followed by Stephanie Connaire of Les Croupiers RC in 46:28.
