Weekend Round up August 10th & 11th

The adverse weather conditions this weekend caused a lot of Welsh competitions to be cancelled but some competitions still went ahead and here is a quick round-up of the weekend.
European Team Championships, Bydgoszcz, Poland – August 9th-11th
U20 Welsh athlete Tom Hewson (Mark Bradford) put on his first senior GB vest to compete at the European Team Championship against some of the best Javelin throwers in Europe. He finished in an admirable 12th place with a throw of 64.93m.
Port Talbot Half Marathon, Port Talbot – August 11th
A slightly brighter day on Sunday for the Port Talbot Half Marathon. Matthew Rees of Swansea Harriers was the first man home in 1:13.25 followed by local Pontypridd Roadents AC runner Simon Lewis in 1:15.51.
In the women’s race, Swansea Harriers’ Rachel Davies was the first home in 1:27.05 ahead of Amman Valley Harriers runner Sioned Howells in 1:29.17.
