DIAMOND LEAGUE – ZURICH, AUGUST 27
Jake Heyward (Cardiff Athletics) finished ninth in a world class 1500m at the Diamond League meeting in Switzerland.
The Welsh record holder crossed the line in 3:32.73 in a race which was won by Olympic Champion Cole Hocker in 3:31.71.
Two days before, Heyward was named in Great Britain team heading for September’s World Athletics Road Running Championships in Denmark where he will contest the mile.
The Tokyo Olympic finalist has already finished fourth in the Commonwealth Games and European Athletics Championships this year.
MID CHESHIRE 5K – AUGUST 28
Welsh road 5K champion Owen Roberts (Meirionnydd Running Club) finished fifth at the Mid Cheshire 5K in 14:12.
BIG ON TOUR BEDFORD FINAL – AUGUST 29
Glasgow Commonwealth Games gold medallist Olivia Breen (City of Portsmouth) was in action at Bedford on Saturday.
Breen, who also claimed a silver medal over 100m in Glasgow, produced a best of 4.69m.
Meanwhile, Sam Davies (Swansea Harriers) won Pool A of the men’s high jump competition with a best of 2.04m.
BE FIT FOR TODAY TRACK ACADEMY OUTDOOR SERIES – LEE VALLEY, AUGUST 29
National Development Programme athlete Darcy Coslett (Llanelli AAC) ran 12.20 finishing fifth in her first round 100m heat. In the second round, Coslett ran 12.11 to finish fourth.
Cai Lewis Jones (Menai Track and Field) finished sixth in his 100m heat in 10.96 and repeated the result in his second round heat.
Dylan Byram (Menai Track and Field) ran 11.20 as he finished third in his first round heat before finishing fourth in the second round in 11.22.
Under-18 athlete Harry Mansfield (Newport Harriers) ran 11.31 as he finished second in his first round heat. In the second round, Mansfield finished fourth in 11.35.
ITSAF BERLIN – AUGUST 30
Following on from his medal-winning successes at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, Jeremiah Azu (Cardiff Athletics) finished third in Berlin, clocking 10.17. The race was won by Kadrian Goldson, of Jamaica, in 9.98.
BRESCIA GRAND PRIX – AUGUST 30
Commonwealth Games competitor Ava Lloyd (Wigan and District) ran a new 800m personal best in Italy on Sunday.
Lloyd, who reached the mile final in Glasgow, finished eighth in a time of 2:00.61. The race was won by Shafiqua Maloney, Saint Vincent, in 1:58.03.
CARDIFF PENTATH-RUN (CPR) 2026 – 29-30 AUGUST
The weekend saw the latest staging of the Cardiff Pentath-Run – a marathon distance challenge made up of five events over two days.
The distances consisted of a 5K parkrun, a 10K and a 4.5K cross country race on the first day, followed by a half marathon and then a mile race on the second day.
The overall men’s winner was Oliver Williams (Les Croupiers) who posted an aggregate time of 2:32.37 ahead of Paul Josua (San Domenico) in 2:37.19 and Paul Morton (Penarth and Dinas) in 2:50.57.
The fastest aggregate time clocked by a female runner was 3:12.21 recorded by Sarah Woodley-Williams (San Domenico). Next was Susan Bowes (Les Croupiers) in 3:14.01 and Rachel Bowen (Lliswerry) in 3:26.53.
STRATFORD SPEED GP – AUGUST 31
After running 10.17 in Berlin the previous afternoon, Jeremiah Azu (Cardiff Athletics) clocked 10.10 in winning his first round heat in London on Bank Holiday Monday.
Azu also won his second round heat as he clocked 10.19. Meanwhile, in the 200m heats, the Paris Olympian and 2025 World Indoor 60m champion finished second in his heat in 20.88.
Meanwhile, fellow Glasgow Commonwealth Games star Charlotte Henrich (East Kent Invicta) celebrated turning 20 the previous day by smashing her 200m personal best.
Henrich, who helped the Great Britain mixed 4x400m team win silver at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, won her 200m heat in 22.86 to eclipse her previous best of 23.50.
Eli Onyewu (Swansea Harriers) finished second in his first round 100m heat with a time of 10.79. In the second round, Onyewu won his heat in 10.67 before going on to finish second in his 200m heat in 21.89.
Tess McHugh (Sale Harriers Manchester) continued her conversion to 400m hurdles with a big new personal best of 57.69 as she won her heat. The Welsh international 400m runner had previously run a best of 58.54 in Belgium at the start of the month.
Eli Jones (Menai Track and Field) ran 25.09 as she finished fourth in her 200m heat in 25.09.
CILCAIN MOUNTAIN RACE – WELSH INTER-REGIONAL MOUNTAIN CHAMPIONSHIPS 2026 – 31 AUGUST
The event was held in dry weather conditions but the surface was slippery underfoot on the descent.
The Inter Regional Men’s result was: 1st North Wales 6pts. 2nd South Wales 23pts. 3rd East Wales 27pts. Women: 1st North Wales 8pts. 2nd East Wales. No 3rd region.
Individual results were: Men - 1st Sam Gunning. 2nd Ed Woodhead. 3rd Gavin Roberts. 4th Rhys Jones. 5th Rhys Goodrick. 6th Will Chalk. Cai Dafydd DNS.
Women - 1st Eden O'Dea. 2nd Lois Lee (a former junior Welsh international now based in Liverpool) 3rd Josephine Hurst. 4th Martha Owen. 5th Efa Baines.

MIDLAND COUNTIES SENIOR LEAGUE - 29 AUGUST
Welsh under-18 NDP athlete, William Richards-Baldwin (Cheltenham Harriers), competed on Saturday. He won the shot (7.26kg) with 12.94m and the discus (2kg) with 40.03m.
