SCOTT SPORTS SNOWDON TWIGHLIGHT 2024 – JUNE 28
The challenging uphill race from the Royal Victoria Hotel to the summit of Snowdon along the Llanberis Path took place in good conditions on Friday evening.
The event is seen as ideal preparation for the International Snowdon Race and a total of 68 runners took part.
The first man to reach the summit was George Foster (Matlock AC), who clocked a fast time of 43:41.
Second to the top was Lee Gratton (Scott Running) in 45:56 with Rhys Jones (Rhedwyr Hebog Runners) third in 46:32.
Sarah McCormack (Ambleside AC) was the first female to summit, and was fourth finisher overall, in a time of 49:19.
Mel Price (Mercia Fell RC) was second in 59:35 and Rhan Probert (Mynydd Du Mountain Runners) was third 60:45.
MICROPLUS UK ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS – MANCHESTER, JUNE 29 AND 30
A strong contingent of Welsh athletes shone at the Microplus UK Athletics Championships and Olympic trials at the Manchester Regional Arena on Saturday and Sunday.
Among the highlights was Jeremiah Azu (Cardiff Athletics) claiming silver in the men’s 100m and a spot on the Great Britain team for the Paris Olympics on Saturday and Gracie Griffiths winning gold in the 5,000m race walk on Sunday.
UK YOUTH DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE – MIDLANDS PREMIER S/W AND MIDLANDS PREMIER S/W A – NEWPORT, JUNE 30
T37 National Development Programme athlete Tomi Roberts-Jones (Newport Harriers) claimed a new long jump personal best of 4.98m competing for East Wales in the YDL on Sunday.
