UK Athletics Indoor Championships, 18 & 19
It was a great weekend in Birmingham for our Welsh Athletes, with many athletes picking up personal and season bests.
On day one Jeremiah Azu (Cardiff Athletics) claimed a silver in the men’s 60m and a spot on the plane to European Indoor Championships in a few weeks’ time.
More medals followed on day two with Melissa Courtney-Bryant (Poole AC) taking gold in the Women’s 3000m, a silver for Osian Perrin (Menai Track and Field) in the Men’s 3000m, another silver this time for Hannah Brier (Swansea Harriers) in the Women’s 200m. Patrick Swan (Cornwall AC) claimed a bronze in the Men’s Shot Put and Gracie Griffiths (Pembrokeshire Harriers) also took a bronze in the Women’s 3000m walk.
Zurich Seville Marathon, 19
In the Zurich Seville Marathon on Sunday, performance programme athlete Clara Evans (Ponytpirdd Roadents) ran a new personal best of 2:29:27. Also competing in the Women’s event was Anna Bracegirdle (Salford Harriers) crossing the line in 2:36:05.
Kris Jones (Swansea Harriers) completed the marathon in 2:17:53 on his debut, whilst Paul Graham (Pontypridd Roadents) finished in 2:29:28.
British Masters Indoor Championships, 18 & 19
The British Masters Indoor Championships took place in Sheffield at the English Institute of Sport, with a great number of Welsh athletes in attendance.
Louise Kirby (Welsh Masters) took gold in the Women 55 and 70up long jump, with a jump of 3.57.
Rhiannon Jenkins (Parc Bryn Bach) claimed two bronze medals, one in the Women's 35 Long Jump and a second in the Women 35 60m hurdles with a new PB.
Podium 5K PULK5, 17
In Battersea on Friday night, Beth Kidger (Brighton Phoenix) finished 4th in the women’s race with a time of 16:08.
In the men’s race Michael Ward (Cardiff) finished in 13th with a time of 14:22.
Cardiff 10/20, 19 February
In the Les Croupiers 20:10 event, Josh Griffiths (Swansea Harriers) won the 10 mile race with a time of 50:37. Kristie James (Pontypridd Roadents) won the Women's 10 mile race with a time of 1:04:36.
In the 20 mile race, Tom Flitcroft (Les Croupiers) was the first finisher in the men's race in 02:01:21, whilst Emma Wookey (Lliswerry Runners) won the Women's race with 02:17:26.
