IAU 24-HOUR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS, ALBI, FRANCE – SEPTEMBER 18-19
Jen Coleman (Les Croupiers) was part of the Great Britain team which won team gold at the at the 24-hour world championships in France.
Leading the way for the GB team was Sarah Webster who won the individual title in a remarkable new world record of 278.622km.
AFAN FOREST TRAIL HALF MARATHON AND 10K – OCTOBER 18
The Afan Forest Half Marathon offers participants a rare opportunity to experience a stunning experience through Afan Forest Country Park.
The first male runner home in the 10K was Stephen Clapham in 49:54, ahead of Matt Botwood in 50:33 and Kevin Skinner in 50:46.
The first female finisher in eighth place overall was Anna Boughey in 54:09. The second female was Jen Kiley in 59:15 with Claire Thomas third in 1:00.28.
Victorious in the half marathon was Matthew Shackleton, who crossed the line in 1:22.32, with Isaac Edwards second in 1:23.03. Dave Cleere was third in 1:25.57.
Anna Rawsthorne, who was seventh overall in 1:33.10, was the first female to finish. Sasha Dyke was next in 1:55.18, while Rebecca Johnson clocked 1:58.40 in third.
TIARAS AND TUTUS – PARC TAF, BARGOED – OCTOBER 18
Runners at this event choose how far to go - from 5km to 10k, half to marathon to ultra, competitors complete as many, or as few, laps as they like of a 5.3km, 3.28 mile, out and back, course through Parc Taf Bargoed
Runners and walkers are welcome to complete one lap or keep going to see how far they can get in the full 7-hour time limit. Everyone gets a bespoke finishers medal.
AJ BELL GREAT SOUTH RUN – PORTSMOUTH, OCTOBER 19
Welsh international Beth Kidger (Brighton Phoenix) finished third at the AJ Bell Great South Run 10-mile race on Sunday.
The former Welsh 1500m champion and Welsh Commonwealth Games 5,000m competitor clocked 56:48, with Swansea Harrier Verity Ockenden winning in 56:37.
The men’s race was won by Marc Scott with Pontypridd Roadent Jake Smith finishing third in 47:53.
TRAFFORD 10K - MANCHESTER, OCTOBER 19
Rhiannon Paton (Westbury Harriers) finished seventh in the women’s race in 34:41 at the Trafford 10K, which was won by Sarah Dufour-Jackson (Vale Royal AC).
GWENT LEISURE CENTRE LEAGUE XC RACE 1 – GLEBELANDS, NEWPORT, OCTOBER 19
The cross country season continued at pace with the first fixture of the Gwent Leisure Centre League on Sunday.
It was a particularly fruitful day for Parc Bryn Bach Running Club with their members filling the top three places in the overall men’s race.
Daniel Bodman led the way in completing the 4.16 mile course in a time of 22:52. Dominic Davies was second in 23:16 and Huw Evans third in 23:44, each of them also winning their age group categories.
There was also a Parc Bryn Bach winner in the overall women’s race with Kani Hinshelwood taking the honours in 26:53. Laura Cameron (Lliswerry Runners) was second in 27:26, just a second ahead of club-mate Emma Wookey.
Unsurprisingly, Parc Bryn Bach claimed the team honours in the men’s race, while Lliswerry came out on top in the ladies race.
CARDIFF TAFF TRAIL HALF MARATHON – OCTOBER 19
The course saw runners run through Pontcanna Fields and Bute Park before heading north along the Taff Trail to Tongwynlais and then heading for home.
And the first to cross the line was Tom Flitcroft (Les Croupiers) who finished in 1:15.12, comfortably ahead of club-mate Mark Price in 1:19.37. Matthew Turner (San Domenico) was third in 1:20.57.
The first female home was Emily Musgrave (Les Croupiers) who finished 6th overall in 1:28.05. Next home 8th overall was Holly Greenwood (Caerleon RC) in 1:28.16. Tracy Jenkins (Porthcawl Runners) was one place behind in 1:28.26.
WEST GLAM XC ROUND 1 – PEMBREY COUNTRY PARK, OCTOBER 19

WITCH’S BREW – BARRY SIDINGS, PONTYPRIDD, OCTOBER 19
Runners at this event choose how far to go - from 5km to 10k, half to marathon to ultra, competitors complete as many, or as few, laps as they like of a 5.3km, 3.28 mile, course.
Starting near Barry Sidings Cafe, runners and walkers head down the Taff Trail towards Pontypridd to the turnaround point, before retracing their steps passing the aid station, the cafe, and the lakes on their way to Trehafod and the turnaround point, returning to the aid station to finish a lap.
Runners and walkers are welcome to complete one lap or keep going to see how far they can get in the full 7-hour time limit. Everyone gets a bespoke finishers medal.
