BAUHAUS JUNIORENGALA – MANNHEIM, JUNE 13-14
Nell Desir (Cardiff Archers) was part of the Novuna Great Britain Under-20 team competing in Germany over the weekend.
In the individual 100m, the young Welsh sprinter won her heat in new personal best of 11.56, cementing her place as one of the top five under-20 athletes in the UK over 100m
Meanwhile, Desir was also part of the GB women’s Under-20 4x100 team, which finished third behind Switzerland and Germany in a time of 44.35.
INTER REGIONAL TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS – JUNE 13
South Wales took the overall regional honours as 300 athletes from all over Wales battle for individual and area glory at the Ron Jones Stadium in Aberdare.
A total points haul of 619.50 meant South Wales finished ahead of West Wales 557.50, East Wales 434.50 and North Wales 426.50. South Wales also won the boys title, whilst West Wales was victorious in the girls events.
Among the individual highlights was National Development Programme thrower Ameila Mitchell (West Wales/Neath Harriers) winning the Under-18 women’s hammer with a big championships best performance and personal best of 57.59m.
Fellow NDP thrower Grace Hawker (East Wales/Cardiff Archers) also celebrated a championship best performance as she claimed gold with 14.28m.
Another NDP athlete, Finnley Roynon (East Wales/Cwmbran Harriers) won the Under-18 men’s 100m in 10.79.
In the Under-18 110m hurdles, NDP multi-eventer Aiden Angilletta (North Wales/Deeside AAC) claimed gold in 14.85 before going on to win the javelin with a best of 41.71m.
The NDP sprinters were in good form with Darcy Coslett (West Wales/Llanelli AC) following up her double gold at the Welsh Junior Championships by winning the 400m here in 55.04.
The Under-18 men’s long jump was won by NDP multi-eventer Martin Macsen-Hughes (South Wales/Cardiff Archers) with 6.09m.
In the younger age groups, Olivia Thomas (South Wales/Cardiff Archers) won the Under-14 girls100m in a new PB of 12.61. The boys race was won by Oscar-Brett Thomas (South Wales/Cardiff Athletics) in 12.41.
In the Under-16 boys 100m, Jacob Barnes (South Wales/Cardiff Archers) won in a new PB of 11.35, while the Under-16 girls 100m, Moridiat Olagunju (East Wales/Newport Harriers also won in a PB of 12.03.
TONYPANDY TRACK CLASSIC – JUNE 13
A record 256 runners travelled to the King George VI Athletics Track in Tonypandy for the popular event which combines fast running with live music.
This year’s meeting included a number of Welsh championship races. The men’s 5,000m was won by Lloyd Sheppard-Brown (Cardiff Athletics) in a new PB of 13:50.41. The fastest female was Kayley Price (Newport Harriers) who clocked a season’s best 17:02.44.
Esme Lewis (Bridgend Athletics) won the Under-16 girls 3,000m title in a PB of 10.35.06, while clubmate Nate Greig took the boys title in a PB of 9:04.30.
The Under-20 women and masters women’s 3,000 race was won by Clara Rhodes (Newport Harriers) in 10:57.52, while W50 athlete Michelle Lee was third overall and first in her age group in 11:23.69. Rhys Pladdy (Cardiff Athletics) won the Under-20 men’s 3,000m title in 9:12.85.
BE FIT FOR TODAY TRACK ACADEMY SERIES 3 – LEE VALLEY, JUNE 13
National Development Programme sprinter Aliyah Afolabli (Cardiff Archers) won her women’s 100m first round heat in 11.95. Later in the afternoon Afolabi ran 23.86 in the 200m.
In the men’s first round 100m heats, Transition Programme athlete Lewis Stephens was eighth in 10.78 in a high quality race. In the second round, Stephens improved his time to 10.62 finishing third in heat two.
BWAA GRAND PRIX – COVENTRY, JUNE 13
National Development Programme wheelchair racer Toby Richardson (Yate and District) left Coventry with an armful of medals and a couple of personal bests.
Richardson kicked off with a third place in the men’s 100m where he clocked a new PB of 16.06 before winning the extra 100m men’s race in 16.22.
There was another PB in the 200m where Richardson was second in 28.73.
The youngster rounded off the day with victories over 400m in a season’s best 54.72 and the 800m in 1:51.81.
BMC LOUGHBOROUGH GRAND PRIX – JUNE 13
The Women’s 1500 D race saw Welsh Athletics Transition Programme runner Libby Hale (Swansea Harriers) was fifth in 4:35.57.
National Development Programme athlete Thomas Loynes (Neath Harriers) finished fourth in the Men’s 800m D race in a time of 1:50.87, while fellow NDP man Lucas Salvage (Newport Harriers) was seventh in the E race in 1:52.66.
In the Men’s 3,000m B race, NDP athlete Iwan Thomas (Carmarthen Harriers) was 18th in 8:47.05.
Lily Griffiths (Newport Harriers) won the Women’s 1500m C race in 4:24.26, while clubmate Lilly Oakenfull was third in 4:29.52. Darcie Bass (Swansea Harriers) was fifth in 4:30.12. Brychan Price Davies (Swansea Harriers) was third in the men’s 800m J race in 1:56.90.
BARMOUTH 10K – JUNE 13
Reputed to be one of the most picturesque 10Ks in the UK, the fast, flat course crosses the Barmouth Bridge and is ideal for running personal bests.
Matt Scarsbrook (Badgers) took the honours in the men’s race in 32:28. Adam Bodin (Dudley and Stourbridge Harriers) was second in 33:32 with Tom Walker-Evans third in 34:10.
In the women’s race, Rae Nicholls (Birchfield Harriers) broke the tape in 37:41. Hannah Thomas (Maldwyn Harriers) was second in 39:10 ahead of Kirstie Sharman (Higham Harriers) in 41:11.

BEDFORD INTERNATIONAL GAMES ON TOUR – BIRMINGHAM, JUNE 14
Welsh Athletics National Development Programme multi-eventer Tiana Odugbesan (Cardiff Archers) finished fourth in the women’s long jump Pool B at Birmingham University, registering a best of 5.76m. Lauryn Davey (Swansea Harriers) was seventh with 5.61m.
In the men’s long jump, Ade Akanbi-Mortimer (Cardiff Athletics) was second with a leap of 7.17m. The Pool C long jump saw Emily Thomas (Cardiff Archers) post a jump of 5.72m.
2026 BIRCHFIELD GAMES - BIRMINGHAM, JUNE 10
Lachlan Robbie finished top in the shot put last Wednesday at the Brichfield Games with a new PB of 17.96.
