UK Coaching Week: The Great Coaching Comeback

07/06/2021 00:00, In Blog /

Whatever your environment, whatever your focus, whatever your level, we want to celebrate #GreatCoaching for ALL as we welcome a wider return to the Athletics in Wales.

This year’s UK Coaching Week highlights key themes of reflection, reinvention, and recovery. Our fantastic coaches and leaders have been the driving force behind an innovative evolution of coaching practice which has enabled the sport to continue despite restrictions and further thrive with the opening of society.

We have joined forces with British Athletics and the other Home Countries, and across the week we will be celebrating coaches from our community aligned to themes including;

  • Thinking outside the box
  • Mental Health and Well-being
  • Inclusion
  • Communities

Keep an eye out on our Welsh Athletics social media accounts and see if you can spot some familiar faces.

Also, this UK Coaching Week our partners UKCoaching are launching a year-long campaign aimed at directly supporting coaches' return to coaching after pandemic restrictions have been lifted in the UK. To get the week started why not join the UKCoaching live on Facebook for the grand reveal of The Great Coaching Comeback survey on Mon 7 June at 11 am. UK Coaching CEO Mark Gannon, Director of Coaching Emma Atkins & Sarah Mortiboys, Ladi Ajayi & Jeanette Kwakye will discuss the impact of #GreatCoaching on the UK;

UKCoaching also has some other FREE live online events to support coaches:

“Over the last 18 months, we have seen commitment, dedication, and creativity like never before from all of our Coaches and Run Leaders across Wales. Despite the challenges they have continued to support their athletes – both from a sporting and life perspective.

Welsh Athletics would like to thank every single Coach and Run Leader, we look forward to continuing to support your journey”
