Liverpool Cross Challenge
ICYMI - It was an eventful weekend at the Liverpool Cross Challenge the Welsh athletes showed indicators of their goals for the 2022 season!
The highlights came from both Jenny Nesbitt (Chris Jones) and Osian Perrin (Andrew Walling) who claimed automatic selection for the Spar European Cross Country Championships in Dublin. Smiling as usual with a great reason to Jenny Nesbitt claimed 2nd place in the senior women’s race athletes going clear of athletes such as Abbie Donnelly and Kate Avery to finish behind GB international Jessica Judd.
Cari Hughes (Andrew Walling) also had a strong run at the event finishing fifth in the U23 women’s race and will now wait to hear if she is selected, early next week.
In the U20 race, rising star Osian Perrin led the Welsh team home in the men’s race, coming through a strong field of the nation's best athletes, to finish fourth, securing his place on the team for Dublin.
Perrin said;
"I was hoping to finish in the top three’ said Perrin, ‘but the main thing today was to secure a team place and now I can look forward to racing in Dublin"
