TCS London Mini Marathon Preview

On Saturday 22 of April 36 athletes will represent Waled at the London Mini Marathon. The event will see a number of current Welsh Champions compete, and for many athletes their second time representing Wales this year.

The athletes compete against the best new talent in British road running over the iconic final 2.6k of the London Marathon course, with the race concluding on The Mall.

U13 Girls

Bryony Boyce (Cardiff Athletics) the current U15 3000m Welsh Champion and Heather Watson (Deeside AAC) will be in action. The pair were recently part of the SIAB Junior Cross Country team that won bronze.

U13 Boys

Both Finlay Burns (Cardiff Athletics) the U13 Welsh Cross Country Champion and Tom Garrod (Newport Harriers) will be competing. The pair finished the SIAB Cross Country International in under 15 minutes.

U15 Girls

Holly Humphreys (Swansea Harriers) was the first Welsh athlete across the finish line in the Junior Girls race at the recent SIAB Cross Country international in Liverpool, finishing 7th overall. Whilst Millie Gold (Cardiff Athletics) finished 12th in the Inter Girls race.

U15 Boys

Competing in the U15 category are Lucas Salvage (Newport Harriers) the Indoor Welsh U15 1500m and 800m title holder. And Joshua Sanders (Cardiff Athletics), the Welsh U15 Cross Country Champion will be in contention, he recently won the 3K race at the Bristol Track Club Race Day 3k/5k.

U17 Girls

The current Welsh U17 Cross Country Champion Beca Bown (Menai Track & Field) will be competing, Bown recently co-captained the Welsh Schools team at the SIAB Cross Country International. Also competing is Caitlin Jones (Aberdare Valley AAC), Jones finished second in the Welsh Schools Cross Country Championships in early February.

U17 Boys

Competing in the U17 Boys race is Iwan Thomas (Carmarthen Harriers), Thomas recently captained the SIAB Cross Country team, in which he claimed an impressive silver medal. Henry Evans (Newport Harriers) the current Welsh Schools Cross Country Champion will be competing on the road.
