Welsh Athletics is delighted to announce a 3 year partnership with Front Runner Events that will see the Swansea University Swansea Half Marathon host an annual International Masters International. The first event of this partnership will take place on the 8 June 2025.

The Masters International programme started in July 2022 since when it has grown significantly with eleven events being held over distances from 5km to marathon. The majority of the internationals to date have taken place in England so the Masters Advisory Group, which oversees the masters programme in Wales, is delighted with today’s announcement and it is a significant step forward in Wales hosting future Masters Internationals.

Bernie Jones, Welsh Masters Advisory Group Chair said:

Since July 2022 over 300 different athletes, ranging from 35 to 75 years of age, have represented Wales at Master Internationals, with the level of competition increasing year on year.

In June 2025, over 300 Masters athletes from Wales and England will compete alongside the masses in the Swansea University Swansea Half Marathon – one of the UK’s top half marathons.

Tash Smith, Race Director at Front Runner Events added:

We are delighted to have the Masters Championships form part of the 2025 edition at Swansea. It will be great to welcome runners from across the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland to race across our fantastic city and running the beautiful course.
