Sportsshoes To Sponsor The Cardiff Cross Challenge For a Third Year

We are delighted to announce the UK’s no. 1 online retailer for run, gym and hike, Sportsshoes.com will be sponsoring the prestigious Cardiff Cross Challenge for the third year in a row.

The 2024 Cardiff Cross Challenge will return this year for its 27th event and will take place in Llandaff Fields, Cardiff on Saturday 9 November.

For the fourth year in a row, the Cardiff Cross Challenge has achieved the World Athletics Cross Country Tour Gold Label and is the only Cross Country event to do so in the UK. It will also form part of the British Athletics Cross Challenge Series and the second fixture of the John H Collins Gwent Cross Country League.

As part of the sponsorship agreement, Sportsshoes.com will be sponsoring the senior men’s and senior women’s races as well as providing prize vouchers for the U13, U15 and U20’s races.

This year’s event will be a real showcase for our sport, with 10 races on the day, enabling athletes of all ages and abilities to enjoy being part of the event.

Endurance Competitions Manager, Alex Donald added:

We have assembled our highest quality field to date, including the 2024 European Athletics Rising Star award recipient Niels Laros who races in Cardiff three months after finishing sixth at the Olympic Games where he reset the European U20 1500m record. Célestin Ndikumana of Burundi won the 2023 Cross Internacional Zornotza and will be a favourite in the men’s race alongside Uganda’s Dan Kibet, and 2023 winner Keneth Kiprop. Domestic talent includes Zak Mahamed, Osian Perrin and George Wheeler.

 

Our women’s race is led by World U20 5,000m Bronze medallist Charity Cherop of Uganda, and a talented duo of other East Africans. Multiple Danish Champion Sofia Thøgersen is the leading European entry along with Britons Izzy Fry, Alex Bell and Cari Hughes.
