Sportshall Athletics Round-Up

Saturday 6 April saw the culmination of the school's Sportshall Athletics season with the UK U13 & U15 Final at Fenton Manor Stoke. After a series of school district trials that progressed to the Welsh Final at Cwmbran back on Sunday 10 March, our teams and top U15 individual all-rounders from Afan Nedd Tawe, Cardiff & the Vale and Powys school districts subsequently qualified for Stoke. The competition in the final was very competitive and our pupils were up against eight other qualifying English countries from all over the UK. Sportshall Athletics has been going since 1976 with great success and similar to track and field, pupils compete in three or four events, each gaining points for their performances just like in combined events.
RESULTS:
Under 13 Girls - Cardiff & Vale placed 9th behind winners Kent.
Under 13 Boys - Powys placed 8th behind winners Kent.
Under 15 Girls - Powys placed 9th behind winners Surrey.
Under 15 Boys - Afan Nedd Tawe placed 7th behind winners Surrey.
In the U15 individual all-rounder Mercedes Anderson of Cardiff & the Vale was 23rd and Eifion Holder of Powys was 17th
