Fresh from his medal winning exploits at the World Para Athletics Championships, Harrison Walsh (DSW Para Athletics) is among the entries for Wednesday evening's Welsh Athletics Run With The Wind and Field Events 2 meeting in Cardiff.
Walsh earned a bronze medal in the discus in Japan and he will be hoping for better conditions than were experienced for the first Run With The Wind event last month which took place in unseasonably cold and wet conditions.
Joining him in the men’s discus competition on Wednesday evening will be fellow Great Britain international and Welsh Athletics transition programme athlete James Tomlinson (Birchfield Harriers).
Also entered are promising national development programme athletes Owen Garrett (Yate and District) and Eurion John (Cardiff Athletics.
Two more NDP athletes will also be competing in the women’s discus – Grace Hawker (Cardiff Archers) and F63 thrower Mia Lloyd (Carmarthen Harriers). They will face stern competition from Carmarthen Harriers duo Storm Evans and Dolly Evans.
The evening will also feature a high-quality seated shot competition, which will feature Ellie Bowen and Kieran Jones, of DSW Para Athletics, and Carmarthen Harrier Jac Sheehan.
As the name of the meeting suggests, there is a strong entry across the sprints ranging from 75m hurdles up to 400m.
Some of Wales’ top female hurdlers and multi eventers will be in action over 100m, including Commonwealth Games heptathlete Lauren Evans (Cardiff Athletics), Grace Morgan (Cardiff Archers), Lauryn Davey (Swansea Harriers) and Sophie Lisk (Cardiff Archers).
Great Britain international and Wales Commonwealth Games star Hannah Brier (Swansea Harriers) will take a step down from the 400m where she has been starring in recent months.
Brier will run over her original distances of 100 and 200m, where there is a plethora of experience and rising Welsh talent taking part.
It includes T37/F37 athlete Tomi Roberts-Jones (Newport Harriers), who will also be competing in the long jump, and Lewis Stephens (Cardiff Athletics), who claimed a 100m PB at the weekend.
Other field events featured on Wednesday night include the shot put, which will see two-time British Champion Adele Nicoll (Birchfield Harriers) competing following a hugely successful bobsleigh season in the winter.
The women’s long jump will also feature Davey and Evans as well as another talented multi-eventer - rising under-20 athlete Jessica Lee (Carmarthen Harriers).
The action at the Cardiff International Sports Campus starts at 6pm on Wednesday.
