Pride Month 2024 – Get Involved in Sport!

June is Pride Month, also known as LBGT+ History Month, and is a global celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, its culture, history and rights and commemorates the Stonewall Riots that took place in June 1969.
Athletics, and sport, is for everyone, everywhere. Welsh Athletics, along with the other Home Country Athletics Federations (UK Athletics, England Athletics, Scottish Athletics and Athletics Northern Ireland), are part of the Athletics Pride Network which aims to create a sport-wide community of LGBTQ+ people and allies from grassroots to elite level through effective communication, support and celebration. For wider sports participation, Pride Sports Cymru is a great avenue to explore a range of LBGTQIA+ sports and clubs across Wales and very excitingly for the first time in the UK, will be hosting the 24th EuroGames 2027 in Cardiff!
If you can’t wait until 2027 to get involved in a Pride Cymru event, on Friday 21st June at 6.30pm, Pride Cymru are hosting their fourth annual Pride Cymru Fun Run in Cardiff with the Bigmoose Café – you can get your free ticket HERE! This event celebrates the start of Pride Cymru weekend and is a fun 5k run through Bute Park.
