Mini London Marathon in Schools- Get Involved Wales!
27/02/2026 00:00, In Blog /
The TCS Mini London Marathon in schools is back for 2026, and it's bigger than ever! This year, schools can register and take part throughout a longer participation window from Monday 23 February to Friday 1 May!
WHAT DOES THE EVENT INVOLVE?
The event is open to school children of all ages and abilities from across the UK, inviting them to run, jog, walk, wheel or be guided around a two-mile course within their school setting. Schools can take on the Mini as a new challenge, or as part of their regular Daily Mile activity!
Since 2020, more than one million children in the UK have taken on the challenge. It’s a great opportunity to bring the inspiration of a major sporting event to your school community. Last year, 104 schools across Wales took part in the event. Can we beat that in 2026?
Registered schools will receive a confirmation email and a link to the downloadable participation toolkit which includes: certificates and running bibs for participants, finish line tape, bunting and poster decorations, educational resources and fundraising tips.
Every registered school will also receive a trophy in the post. They’ll be sent emails to share how other schools are taking part, and spotlight incredible stories.
Welsh Athlete Natasha Wilson nee Cockram will be representing GB in the marathon at this year’s European Championships. She encourages school to register to take part in the mini:
My journey started by taking part in school with my friends, I never dreamed it would lead to something so big, that’s why I’m so excited about this year’s TCS Mini London Marathon in Schools. It’s an amazing opportunity to get involved, challenge yourself and be part of something bigger
Schools can register now and take part any time until Friday 1 May 2026.
