The Board of Welsh Athletics has announced that, after 12 years at the helm, Matt Newman will be stepping down as CEO of Welsh Athletics to focus his attention on Run 4 Wales, the not-for-profit events company, which he has also led since 2012.
Matt has been working with Steve Perks, the Chair of the Board, to ensure a smooth transition and the next chapter will see James Williams appointed as interim Chief Executive from 1st January 2020.
Steve Perks said “Welsh Athletics is in a good place. The Governance of the organisation has been refreshed, a new Vision and Strategy has been launched and a framework for athletics in the UK has been agreed with UKA and the Home Countries. The Board would like to thank Matt for his professionalism, integrity and dedication to the modernisation of athletics in Wales over the past 12 years.”
