JOMA become exclusive technical sportswear partner to Welsh Athletics

A 5-year deal has been by agreed between Welsh Athletics and Spanish sportswear giant, JOMA. The agreement will see a new range of kit for athletes representing Wales up to 2023, including the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Rising stars Owain Lloyd-Hughes, David Locke, Steffan Dylan-Jones, Ffion Palmer and Gabriella Fakande were among the first athletes to test the kit in action as they competed for the Wales U20 team in the Home International match versus Scotland, Ireland and the English Regions in Cardiff last week.
“We are delighted to sign a long-term agreement with Joma. We have been impressed by the quality and variation of products that they offer, and we are sure that our athletes will enjoy wearing the products over the coming years. Ensuring the products are of the highest standard has been our priority throughout this process, but we have also taken into account the potential benefits of this agreement for the 100 plus clubs that are affiliated to Welsh Athletics. We will be launching a club kit offer in the coming weeks, followed by a supporter’s range – something that has been requested for some time.” Said James Williams, Head of Operations for Welsh Athletics.
Joma is the most important Spanish sports brand, with the highest sales volume in the sports market and in the top ten of international brands. It’s a 100% Spanish company, founded by Fructuoso López in 1965 since when its progression has been fast, reaching the market of more than 106 countries currently.From its creation, Joma has been linked mainly to two sports: football and athletics.

In the football market, the brand has and is technical sponsor for many great teams such as AC Sampdoria, Atalanta, Swansea City, Toulouse CF or National Federations such as Romania, Ukraine, Hondura. In athletics, Joma has obtained a great visibility in the past few years thanks to the sponsorship of the Spanish Federation, the Mexican Federation, Morocco or Belarus among others. Also, the main athletic clubs in Spain are wearing the brand. Recently, many Olympic Committees have joined Joma, Spanish Olympics included. The Brand also dresses great sportsmen and women in other disciplines, such as the tennis players Pablo Carreño, Alberto Ramos, Nico Almagro or Marcel Granollers.
