Earlier last month saw the first West Wales Development Day for throws after the launch of the new Throws Development Programme by new National Talent Development Co-ordinator, Ryan Spencer-Jones

The day allowed athletes to train with other athletes in the same disciplines, develop their technique and learn more about physical preparation and athlete nutrition and lifestyle. The day also allowed coaches to network and develop their own coaching techniques and to work more closely with their athletes in a positive and engaging setting.

Pedr Roberts lead the day down Carmarthen which had a turnout of 19 athletes and 9 coaches. Speaking about the day he said:

"The weather held for the first hour so that drills and throws were done outside. All 4 throws had a fairly equal attendance and the lead coaches per discipline had clearly prepared their session plans well.  As the rain came in we moved into the sports hall to conduct the fitness tests.  Each coaching group shared a discipline which  covered many different fitness aspects including strength speed power agility balance. The level of enthusiasm shown by the athletes coaches and the parents was a pleasure to see."
