Wales will be sending a team of three men to compete in the famous Trofeo Vanoni International Mountain Running Relay Race in Morbegno, Italy this Sunday, 27th October. A race rich in history, that has attracted the best mountain runners in the world over the past 62 years.

Wales have been competing in the event as a nation since 2010; in the past Wales have been represented by members of the Eryri Harriers who are twinned with CSI Morbegno. This year is no different with 15 of their athletes competing along with international teams from various countries including; The Czech Republic, France, Ireland, Poland, Scotland as well as the best mountain runners in Italy.

Wales will have two debutants competing in the event for the first time, Daniel Bodman and Owen Roberts along with the experienced Gareth Hughes.

The race is well supported by the local town with vociferous crowds lining the whole route more akin to the Tour de France cycle race. The race itself starts on the main street and rises steeply on a mixture of road; track and grass to Arzo church before a steep descent back to the main street where the enthusiastic cheering crowds inspire the athletes towards the finish line.
