CHOCOHOLICS 5K ROAD RACE AND FUN RUN – NEWTOWN, MARCH 29
The Easter weekend got off the perfect start with the annual Chocoholics 5K Road Race and Fun Run on Good Friday.
The event, organised by Maldwyn Harriers, saw more than 100 finishers in the main race and 60 in the fun run. It was the first race in the club’s annual Summer Series.
Tackling a new route this year, the men’s 5K was won by Aled Breeze (Maldwyn Harriers), who crossed the line in 16:35. Second was club mate Gwynant Jones in 16:47 with Matt Benson third in 16:50.
The first female runner home was Madison Hughes (Maldwyn Harriers), clocking 18:33, ahead of Hannah Thomas (Maldwyn Harriers) in 19:54 and Maddison Griffiths (Maldwyn Harriers) in 20:11.

TEIFI 10 MILE ROAD RACE 2024 – LAMPETER, MARCH 31
Run on a fast flat course taking runners along the River Teifi and through the town of Lampeter, the men’s race was won by Michael Kallenburg (Swansea Harriers) in 52:48.9.
Second place was claimed by John Collier in 56:03.5, while third went to Iwan Jones in 56:13.
Winner or the women’s race was Naomi Sutton (Neath Run 4 All) who crossed the line in 1:03:11.8. Emma Price was second in 1:03:47.2 and Polly Summers (Sarn Helen) third in 1:05:10.9.

CARDIFF TAFF TRAIL HALF MARATHON – MARCH 31
Pontcanna Fields in Cardiff saw the start of the Cardiff Taff Trail Half Marathon on Sunday morning.
The field headed north along the Taff Trail to Tongwynlais before turning and heading back to Pontcanna where Edward Matthews (Pontypridd Roadents) was the first athlete home to take the men’s race in 1:13.37.
Next to finish was clubmate William Gadd, who clocked 1:13.41 with John Morris (Les Croupiers RC) third in 1:17.20.
Olivia Tsim made it a particularly successful day for Pontypridd Roadents by winning the women’s race in 1:18.52 – a new course record. Second was Tracy Jenkins (Porthcawl Runners) in 1:26.06 while Emma Wookey (Lliswerry Runners) was third in 1:27.50.

YEOVIL OLYMPIADS ATHLETIC CLUB SPRING OPEN - APRIL 1
On Easter Monday, day 2 of the YOAC Spring Open took place in sunny Somerset.
Owain Terrell (Newport Harriers) who was recently classified last summer had a great day taking home two new personal bests in the 100m and 200m mixed wheelchair finals with a time of 25.09 and 42.14 respectively. These times also claimed him second place in the 200m final and third place in the 100m finals.
