Athletes Selected for Welsh Athletics Performance Pathway

We are delighted to announce the athletes selected for the Welsh Athletics Performance Pathway.
Chris Type, Welsh Athletics Head of Performance shared:
With over 200 athletes considered during the selection process, a high-quality list of athletes has now been established that we will invest in for the upcoming years.
Every six months athletes outside the performance programme will be considered, and identified athletes with notable performances will be short tracked onto the performance programme elevating any time delays for the athlete and coach.
Congratulations to each athlete selected and we look forward to supporting you on your athletic journey.

Congratulations to all the athletes and coaches who have been included within the performance pathway programme. The approach has been evolving for some time, with a focus on driving improvements in performance across the sport in Wales.
“The performance team has gone through a substantial amount of change over the past 12 months, and the announcement today is the first step towards delivering a sustainable success for athletes.”

Following the appointment of Chris Type in January 2023 as the new Head of Performance for Welsh Athletics, a full review of the Performance Strategy has taken place.
Aligning with Welsh Athletics strategy, Chris has reviewed, updated and refreshed the Performance Strategy for the next three years.
