With the prospect of a Commonwealth Games debut on the cards for Jac Palmer, this year brings with it much significance. Having been born and raised in South Wales, Welsh speaking Palmer is looking to make the short trip to Birmingham this summer to compete in the Men's Hammer throw.
Jac tells us what it would mean to be selected for the Commonwealth Games this summer:
“To represent Wales on a global stage is more of a pride thing, it’s something that is really really important to me, being Welsh speaking, having lived my whole life in Wales, I truly know what it means to hear that anthem and have this badge on.”
Even closer to home, the journey to this point has been a close family affair!
His dad has coached him for the past 7 years, and his sister also competes in the event. The bond Palmer, and his dad Adrian have, has enabled his steady progress over the years. The Cardiff AC athlete also cites his school PE teacher as to having an influencial part in his decision to take up the sport in the first place.
Hear what Jac has to say about his journey and his goals for the upcoming season!
