Welsh 5km Road Race Championships - Bridgend

Poor weather conditions were unable to prevent Jade Williams (Amman Valley) and Ieuan Thomas (Cardiff AAC) from taking victories at the Welsh 5km Road Race Championships, in Merthyr Mawr on Saturday.

The Championships saw titles awarded to thletes in the U17/U20/Senior and all master age-groups.

Williams ran away from the rest of the field early on, during what was a rare outing on the roads for the track specialist. Clara Evans (Pontypridd Roadents) took Silver, comfortably ahead of Kate Roberts (Swansea Harriers) in third.

It was Cardiff AAC however who had the numbers to take a team title ahead of Williams' Amman valley Harriers and local club Bridgend AC.
