Welsh throwers striving for more success at Almada

Welsh Athletics will be supporting a strong team of eleven throwers at this weekend's International u20 / u23 Throws Competition in Almada, Portugal. The meet will see some of Europe's top throwers come together for a unique competition, in which the welsh team will take on teams from Spain, Denmark and Portugal.

Amongst the welsh athletes in action this weekend will be winner of the Loughborough International Javelin competition Bethany Moule (Neath), who'll be looking to achieve another European Youth Qualifying Standard in the Junior Women's Javelin competition. Alongside Bethany will be James Tomlinson (Pembrokeshire), who'll be looking to build on his lifetime best throw in Halle, Germany last weekend as he chases a World Juniors Qualifying Standard in the Men's Discus.

Fresh from her Welsh Junior Record breaking throw at Loughborough a fortnight ago, Deeside's Amber Simpson will again be looking for a strong performance in the Women's Hammer Throw, whilst Cardiff's Jac Palmer will look to continue his fine recent form as he competes in the Men's Hammer Throw.

The competition provides some of Wales' most promising junior athletes with the opportunity to compete against high calibre international athletes and gives them another chance to chase lifetime best and World Juniors / European Youth Qualifying Standards.
