Ieuan recently finsihed 2nd at the British Athletics Championships in Birmingham, securing his place at next month's European Athletics Championships in the 3,000m Steeplechase. He's enjoyed another succesful outdoor season; running a lifetime best of 8:30:16 in the 3,000m Steeplechase in Leiden last month and winning the Newport 10k, just weeks after his Gold Coast experience, in a blistering time of 29:43. Welsh Record holder in the Women's Long Jump (6.54m) and Gold Coast representative, Rebecca Chapman (Cardiff AAC; Laurie Needham), will look to defend her Long Jump title at this weekend's Welsh Senior Championships. Becca represented Wales at the Commonwealth Games in April, and her performances have continued to improve throughout the season. After jumping 6.30m at the UK Women's League in early June, she jumped a season's best effort of 6.36m in Swansea at the Welsh Athletics League. Becca finished 12th at the British Athletics Championships a fortnight ago with 6.11m, but followed that up with an improved jump of 6.23m at the UK Women's League in Crawley last weekend. She will be looking to add another welsh title to her name this weekend, but will undoubtedly face stiff competition from fellow jumper Sarah Abrams, who's also been rounding into excellent from in recent months.
