Tuesday 10th July
With this weekend's Welsh Senior Championships fast approaching, we focus on some of the country's top athletes that will be action on Friday and Saturday at the Cardiff International Sports Stadium.
Swansea Harrier Hannah Brier will compete in a high quality Women's 100m this weekend, as she appears to be rounding into peak form at exactly the right time. Hannah was part of Wales' 4 x 100m Relay squad at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow that broke the National Record, finishing in 7th place. She also finished 6th in the Women's 100m at the IAAF World Junior Championships back in 2016, running a lifetime best of 11.39 seconds in her semi-final at the championship. 2018 has been a year of gradual progression for Hannah; after running 11.75 in her outdoor opener in Belgium back in late May, she ran 11.65 at the UK Women's League before finishing 4th at the UK U23 100m Championships in Bedford last month. Hannah's most recent performance saw her run a season's best clocking of 11.61 at the UK Women's League match in Grangemouth, which suggests she's hitting top form at exactly the right time ahead of this weekend.

Two-time Commonwealth Games representative Osian Jones (Liverpool Harriers) will compete in the Men's Hammer Throw at this weekend's Welsh Senior Championships. Osian represented Wales at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, and more recently at the Gold Coast Games in Australia back in April, where he finished in 7th place. He's the Welsh Record holder in the Men's Hammer Throw with an enormous 71.62m and is also a multiple-time Welsh Champion. Saturday's competition will be the final time Osian throws this season, and he'll be looking to go out in style, after admitting that he's made a few technical changes to his throwing since returning from the Gold Coast. He finished 8th at the British Championships a fortnight ago, and also won the Men's Hammer Throw competition at the British Athletics League in Bedford last weekend.
