Foundation Development Days 2018/19

Welsh Athletics are pleased to present a series of event specific Foundation Development Days during 2018/19. The days aim to introduce the fundamental skills of specific events within athletics, and provide an opportunity for athletes, parents and coaches to develop their knowledge and understanding of the key principles associated with their specific athletics events.

High Jump Foundation Days 

These Foundation Days provide an opportunity for young athletes, parents and coaches to better understand the fundamental movement skills and awareness of RAMP warm ups, physical competency and technical development. 

There will be two High Jump Foundation Days - the first in Cardiff (NIAC) on Saturday 17th November, which will primarily be for athletes from the South and East Regions.

The second day in Swansea (Swansea University) on Sunday 25th November will primarily be for athletes from the West Region.

The Foundation Development Days will take place between 10a.m and 1p.m, and will be organised by Stephen Bailey and Liz Rowland, with additional coaching from Welsh athletes Jac Palmer and Adele Nicoll.

All athletes attending, regardless of their age, must have at least 3 recorded performances on the Powerof10. 

Please note there are only 25 spaces available on each of the Foundation Days.

Triple Jump Fundamental Skills Workshops

These Foundation Days provide an opportunity for young athletes, parents and coaches to better understand the fundamental skills of the Triple Jump in a safe and structured environment, taught by coach Phil Warwicker. 

There will be two Triple Jump Fundamental Skills Workshops - the first in Swansea (Swansea University) on Sunday 25th November, and the second in Cardiff (NIAC) on Sunday 13th January.

The Fundamental Skills Workshops will take place between 1 p.m and 3 p.m on both days. 

The Triple Jump event is to be added into the Welsh Junior Championships next year for u15 athletes by invitation only, with a maximum approach distance of 10 metres. Athletes will only be invited to compete if they attend the Triple Jump Fundamental Skills Workshops.
