Entries remain open for the 2018 Welsh Road Relay Championships which will take place at Pembrey Country Park, Llanelli on Saturday 22nd September. This year's relay championships will take place on the recently opened National Closed Road Cycle Circuit set within Pembrey Country Park. Entries will close at midday on Thursday 13th September.
The day will start with the Primary School Boys and Primary School Girls races - which will see Year 5 and Year 6 pupils (School year 2018/19) race 1,540m . These races will not be in relay format, and all runners will be set off at the same time in a race to be first across the line.
Following the Primary School Races will be the u13 Boys and Girls relay races, which will consist of 4 legs of 1,900m, with Menai Track and Field and Newport Harriers looking to defend their 2017 titles. The u15 Boys and Girls races will consist of 3 legs of 3,200m, with Cardiff and Swansea looking to defend their respective titles from 2017. The u17 Men and Women will also compete over 3 legs of 3,200m, with Newport and Swansea likely to be contesting to be crowned champions once more.
Attentions will then turn to the Senior age categories, with Senior Men's and Womens (4 legs of 5,400m), and Masters Men's and Women's (V35, V45, V55) races comprising of 3 legs of 5,400m. Swansea Harriers took the crowns in both senior categories in 2017, and they will again look to defend their titles, but will be sure to face stiff competition from the likes of Cardiff AAC, Newport Harriers, Neath Harriers, Aberdare Valley and Lliswerry.
