Welsh Inter-Regional Championships - Brecon - Saturday 25th August

West Wales were once again crowned overall champions at the annual Welsh Inter-Regional Championships held in Brecon on Saturday afternoon. They secured team victory with an overall score of 935 points, whilst there was a close battle for second place with North Wales (754 points) narrowly beating South Wales (736 points), with East Wales finishing 4th (704 points). The West Wales team also took victory in the overall male and female trophies ahead of North Wales, with East Wales finishing 3rd in the overall female trophy and South Wales finishing 3rd in the overall male trophy.

British Masters Championships - Birmingham - Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th August

Six welsh athletes were crowned British Masters Champions in their respective age categories at the British Masters Championships in Birminghm last weekend. Wrexham's Ian Broadhurst took victory in the M60 100m with 13.31 seconds, and the M60 300m Hurdles with a time of 49.39 seconds. Swansea's Daphne Marler also took victory in two individual events - winning the W70 100m in a season's best time of 25.49, and the W70 Long Jump with a distance of 1.76m. 

Juliet Sidney (Newport) won the W50 100m in a time of 13.91 seconds, whilst Glyn Price (Swansea) took victory in the M50 Pole Vault with a height of 3.90m. Wrexham's Amanda Broadhurst won the W45 Triple Jump with a jump of 8.58m, whilst Graham Holder (Bexley) won the M45 Weight Throw (15.88k) with a distance of 13.93m.

Aberdeen Half Marathon - Sunday 26th August 

Swansea Harrier Kris Jones was victorious at the Aberdeen Half Marathon on Sunday morning. Following news of his selection for Wales' team ahead of the the Commonwealth Half Marathon Championships in October, Kris ran to victory in Aberdeen on Sunday in a time of 1:06:35. 

The England u15 / u17 Championships also took place in Bedford over the weekend with many welsh athletes performing well. A full report will follow on the Welsh Athletics website shortly.
