Paralympic and current European Champion Aled Davies (Cardiff; Ryan Spencer-Jones) retained his European crown on Thursday morning as he took victory in the Men's F63 / F42 Discus Final with a new Championship Record throw of 50.55m. Aled broke the Championship Record four times during Thursday morning's competition as he showed his class once more at a major competition. Aled threw 48.01m, 49.61m, 49.73m before his final round throw of 50.55m to be crowned European Champion once more and claim the gold medal.

On Wednesday evening there was more medal joy for Laura Sugar (Birchfield, Joseph McDonnell) in the Women's T44 / T64 200m Final as she claimed her second bronze medal of the Championships with a season's best clocking of 28.03 seconds. Laura adds 200m bronze to the bronze medal she won in Monday's T44 / T64 100m Final.

There was also medal success for Jordan Howe (DSW Para Academy; Christian Malcolm) who took silver in the Men's T35 100m Final with a clocking of 12.88 seconds. Jordan finished 3rd in the 100m at the 2016 European Championships and will be delighted to add silver to his medal collection from the 2018 Championships.

Gold Coast representative Rhys Jones (DSW Para Academy; Christian Malcolm) finished 4th in the Men's T37 200m Final against a high quality field. Rhys clocked 24.88 seconds to finish just 400th of a second outside of the medal positions on Wednesday evening. Rhys equalled his highest ever placing in the 200m event at a European Championships, after finishing 4th in 2014, and will now turn his attentions to the Men's T37 100m Heats on Friday.
