Weekend Round Up - 4th/5th November

Welsh Cross Country Relays – 4th November, Monmouth Showground

The third edition of this event saw its largest entry numbers to date.  Cardiff AAC successfully defended their Senior Men’s title with impressive legs from both Tom Marshall (James Thie) and Jake Heyward (James Thie).  The Senior Women’s title also went to Cardiff AAC, aided by a fastest leg performance from Kate Seary (Phil Banning).

A strong contingent from Deeside AAC made the trip to Monmouth and were rewarded with titles in the U13 Girls, U15 Girls and U17 Women age groups.  Their U15 Boys team also secured a podium finish with a silver medal.

Age UK Leeds Abbey Dash – 5th November, Leeds

World Championship Marathon representative Andrew Davies (Steve Vernon) was rewarded with a new personal best over the 10K in Leeds of 29:49.  This performance was good enough to see him finish 9th.


Richard Burton 10K – 5th November, Cwmavon

A dominant performance from Josh Griffiths and Jonathan Hopkins saw them secure the top two places in the Richard Burton 10K, running 30:10 and 30:24 respectively. Alaw Beynon Thomas (Kevin Evans) was the first female athlete home in a time of 35:33 – a personal best over the distance for her.
