The 2017 Annual General Meeting of Welsh Athletics took place on the 28th of October at the Metropole Hotel, Llandrindod Wells.
At the meeting the following appointments were confirmed;
President of Welsh Athletics:
Lynnette Harries was re-elected as President of Welsh Athletics until 2019. Lynette has been extremely active during her first 2 years as President, attending many Regional and Club committee meetings, as well as supporting competitions at all levels of the Sport.
Vice President of Welsh Athletics:
Graham Finlayson of Cardiff AAC and Ian Griffiths of Swansea Harriers were elected as Vice Presidents.
Graham Finlayson continues to be an extremely active volunteer in the Sport, acting as race referee, event adjudicator or Race Director at many events across Wales. He plays a key role in the delivery of some of Wales’ biggest endurance events, including the Cardiff 10k and Cardiff Cross Challenge. He is also a long term member of the Road and Cross Country committees.
Ian Griffiths has been an active member of Swansea Harriers for over 20 years. He continues to be an active member of the club committee, and is also present at most track and field events across Wales acting as announcer.
Following the changes implemented as part of the governance review in 2016, the new streamlined committee structure has the following individuals elected as secretaries on a two year term;
Road & Cross Country committee – Sharon Leech
Mountain & Trail running committee – Arwel Lewis
Track & Field Committee – Judith Gooding
Officials committee – track & field – Sue Hooper
Officials committee – endurance – John Chidlow
Coaching & Performance Task Group – Martin Bell (1 year appointment)
Club Network Development Task Group – Chris Moss (1 year appointment)
