At the annual Anglo Celtic Plate & UK 100km Road Running Championships at Patrington, nr Hull on Sunday 21st May, Wales were represented by a full male team of five athletes on the out and back 25km X 4 flat rural course. In dry, warm and sunny conditions, Wales were led home by debutant Nathan Flear (3M Gorseinion) who finished 8th overall in a time of 7:45:52 followed by: 10th Daniel Weston (Wrexham ACC) 7:54:58. 14th Paul Wathan (Eryri Harriers) 8:33:41. 15th and in his 13th consecutive appearance and finish in the event, Jeremy Mower 8:44:12 and another debutant Gwyn Owen (Eryri Harriers) who despite cramping up very early on in the race, kept going to finish in just under 9 hours with a time of 8:59:46. Wales finished 2nd to England in the team standings. Unfortunately, Wales international team were not represented by any women but, Eryri's Gemma Morgans ran well to finish 7th female overall in a time of 9:32:32.
Overall; A steep learning curve for some of our athletes who kept going to the end who no doubt will learn from the experience and be ready to go once again and improve on their performances in the future.
