Taking place on the 23rd of June 2012, Trail Marathon Wales will have full (26.2 mile / 42.1 km) and half (13.1 mile / 21 km) marathon race routes in the stunning trails and tracks of the world-renownedCoed y Brenin forest in the Snowdonia National Park. This unique marathon aims to be Wales' first true trail marathon taking in fully marked trail single track, forest roads and paths in some of the most stunning forestry and heathland in the UK.
Entry for the 2012 events opens on 1st of November, 2011. Priced at £25 for the full and £20 for the half distance events (plus small online booking fee) we feel that Trail Marathon Wales represents one of the best value-for-money events on the race calendar.
The entry fee includes entry to the race, commemorative race t-shirt, an exclusive commemorative Trail Marathon Wales wooden coaster, goody bag, free car parking (at the event overflow car park) and free Welsh tea and flapjack when you finish!
We are also working closely with Forestry Commission Wales at Coed y Brenin to deliver what will be a race route to remember. The exact course details will be released in the early Spring of 2012.
We have provisionally recruited a number of elite UK athletes to take part in the race, who will ensure that the event has a highly competitive element - whilst hopefully attracting good club runners and first time trail marathoners alike.
Trail Marathon Wales will utilise as many local suppliers and contractors as possible and aim to ensure that the local economy and mid-Wales community is affected in positive manner by the event, with that support hopefully being reciprocated ensuring that Trail Marathon Wales is an event that the local and national Welsh community can be proud of in one of the most beautiful areas of the UK.
Being on a Saturday, we also hope that may runners and families will stay on for the weekend in one of the numerous local hostels, cabins, hotels and bed and breakfasts that surround Coed y Brenin. Visit Wales is a great place to start to book your accommodation.
