The second edition of the Beast of Bryn 15 mile and 6.8 mile Trail Races takes place on the 16th of June in Bryn near Port Talbot. The event is named after a number of big cat sightings in and around the area.
The routes are described by race organisers Graham Roland and Shaun Tobin as extremely scenic and challenging. Part of the course uses a stretch of the forestry sorrounding Bryn which is used annually for Wales Rally GB. The route also travels across the mountains of Margam and along the famous Mountain Bike trails of Afan Argoed Country Park.

Shaun was an elite athlete himself and is proud to be able to showcase the areas where he did most of his training.
In addition to the races, the event hosts five bands, a historical display, children's entertainment, a BBQ, a 2k fun run and has a traditional choir performing at the start of the races. Bryn is a small valley's town which is proud to host this popular event and in 2011 S4C described Bwystfil Y Bryn as ''the event that has everything''.
Last year's champions from the 15 mile race were Afan Humphries of Swansea Harriers and Sally Wilder of San Domenico in Cardiff. Organisers hope that both are able to return to defend their titles with early entries promising that the event will be bigger and better in 2012.
The Beast of Bryn is generously sponsored by Tata Steel and all the profits go to charity with Cystic Fibrosis Trust being the main one to benefit.
